1. Bathe and Groom Your Dog Regularly
Your dog, even if not visibly dirty, can carry bacteria that will produce odours. Regularly bathing with a gentle shampoo – such as our Professional Pet Shampoo – will keep any excess dirt, dander and bacteria at bay, eliminating odour in the process!
You should also remember to brush your dog regularly (helping malting dogs in a controlled environment can do wonders for your home!)
Dirty doggy paws always coming through the house? Auld Sharkey has the solution! Why not try spraying a small amount of our Professional Pet Spritzer into a Tupperware container that you can keep as a paw wash station by the back door.
2. Lint Rollers Save Lives
Okay, so maybe they don’t save lives. But they save lots of time when dealing with hard fabrics. I find them better than hoovers when dealing with wrinkly sofas.
3. Disinfect where possible
As I previously mentioned, most odours come from bacteria. A good high quality sanitizing cleaner will remove upto 99% of surface germs. REMEMBER – always check chemical lists on these types of products to make sure they’re save for use around animals.
Auld Sharkey are releasing something to help with this very soon – for updates on when this will be available sign up to our newsletter www.auldsharkey.com/newsletter
4. Wash the bedding too!
Try to invest in a pet bed that’ll be easy to wash. One with removable covers are ideal and try to wash it at least twice a month. At least as often as you wash your own bedding.
5. Floors for paws!
It’s important to keep carpeted floors vacuumed. You can also use a squeegee or pumice stone (Thanks YouTube!) to get pet hair out of carpets. No Really, a pumice stone!
Don’t forget to mop tiled or laminate floors. Once again be careful which chemicals you use to protect your furry friend
